Reflective Note 6
This week we worked on a Pre-Course Survey. I can see how the pre-course survey could be beneficial for building community in the classroom. The survey can be used to obtain information about the classroom learners such as previous online learning experiences and what they hope to get from the current learning experience.
Another benefit of the pre-course survey could be giving learners with a more limited history of interaction with technology a chance to interact with technology and become more familiar with it.
In the cybercoaching readings, I think rubrics are such an important aspect of cybercoaching. Giving the learner clear direction and guidance of what is expected. The reading shares “a rubric is the tool used to analyze a task according to multiple criteria.” Types of rubrics are listed such as holistic and analytical rubrics. The clarity a rubric can provide to the learner when experiencing the learning and the facilitator when assessing the learning to ensure it is valid, reliable and fair.
I had not used rubrics consistently prior to last year but have found how valuable they can be and the reading in Module 6 further supports the use of rubrics.

I have also added a new tab under additional resources to capture the resources from this course. I find so often we have these great resources but then cannot connect back to them. I thought this blog maybe a good area to save the information in order to reference it later. I would like to develop a “one stop shop” or “toolbox” to store the interesting resources I either discover or ones shared through the courses I am taking.
